July 22, 2009Boston Warped Tour 2009So Boston's Warped Tour was yesterday. I am from Boston, Massachusetts so I am going to report about how the show went. I personally was not there due to having summer classes at my school, but I have a lot of information from the show. First off, July 21 was a rainy day here in the city, as well as Mansfield, MA where the 2009 Warped Tour was taking place at the Comcast Center. Some of the merch tents were in at last five inches of water according to Van's Pit Reporter Tiffany Mink. (Nice drainage job Comcast Center, sounds like last year! Minus the tornado warnings). According to VersaEmerge's front woman, Sierra Kusterbeck, it was Chris Preece's last show. I talked to numerous amounts of fans that went to the show, everyone seemed to be pretty happy with it. Fans were blown away with performances by, Chiodo's, Dance Gavin Dance, A Day To Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, VersaEmerge, All Time Low, Forever The Sickest Kids, and a few more seemed to be the favourites this year. Talking to one fan in particular, local Fitchburg rep, Allyssa Carlberg told me that the best set that she managed to get to see was a surprise for me to hear, but Jeffree Star put on an amazing performance. (I listened to his new song "Prisoner" and I was absolutely blown away when I heard it, and I can't imagine what his set looked like.)but she hated the traffic and the mud that was everywhere throughout the venue. Although there had been some good word from everyone about the shows, I must say just about everyone hated the venue. The Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA is a good venue at times, but it needs to get some ideas in order first. Many people have told me that the security was complete bullshit and basically playing favourites. Some people went in with huge backpacks while others were denied and told to put them in their cars after waiting 2 plus hours in line, some people managed to get food, drink, and SLR camera's in when again, others were denied. The food as well, one kid managed to spend 20.00 on just two hamburgers through out the day and a drink. The food was said to just be too expensive along with outrageous ATM fee's of being $5.95. Knowing that not everything was that expensive the merch was quite cheep. Some full length albums selling for as low as $5.00 and shirts ranging from $10.00-$15.00. It may have rained for most of the day but it was still "a day to remember" and everyone looking forward to the 16th year in 2010 . (hopefully not at the Comcast Center.)
Love.
